Vernacular Stools

These three simple stools are built almost exclusively by hand. A machine was used to cut the initial wood to size. After this, everything is planed, cut and joined using traditional methods. The round tenons that pass straight through the tops and wedged are made by using a rounder. Rounders are tool found within the trade of the Wheelwright. Using one was part of me paying homage to my Granddad and Great Granddad who were both from that trade. The wood is a mix of Ash and Spalted Beech. Soap Finish
